Oh my gosh, I love this photo (click twice to zoom). It was taken (not by me) in Bodie, California, which is an original ghost town from the late 1800s. It still stands today in a state of decay. Just look at this room- I could stare at this picture forever just imagining the way this room used to look in its heyday. There is an entire group pool of Bodie ghost town photos on flickr here, including this one, which I also love.photo source
that's amazing! wouldn't you love to know the story behind that room? beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I photographed ghost towns in North Dakota, which really only dated from the mid 1900s, but now he has his mind set on Bodie. They are the creepiest places ever because you feel like you're disturbing and spend the whole time waiting for someone to jump out at you yelling, "Get out of my house!"
ReplyDeleteOh wow-I want to go there now. It looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! My folks have pictures of --very little me there-- some 40 years ago... whoa... I can't be that old. My dad took us to all kind of great places.. he is a true treasure hunter.... old bottles, buttons, dolls, & other treasures from the old dumps of abandoned towns like Bodie. Castle City just east of Helena, MT was one of my favorites. When I was an early teen there was still wallpaper on the walls... It is so dilapidated now.. nothing really stands but the foundations. sad~
ReplyDeletehey fancy pants!
ReplyDeleteyour blog is rather cute indeed!
just putting it out there!
love your stuff x
Love it :)
ReplyDeleteI love Bodie! I've been many times to photograph the buildings (maybe even that one!). Every time I go I see something new and amazing. I think I'm over due for my next trip out there ;)
ReplyDeleteThe people that work there really do have their hands full keeping all the buildings in an arrested state of decay. I hear that area really gets some harsh winters.
Here's some of the photos I've taken there if you're interested in checking them out:

Fascinating photo--if only walls could talk, that room would have so much to say.
ReplyDeleteWow that photo is really haunting and beautiful I have never heard of Bodie when I get a chance to travel to the US that will be on my list of spots!
ReplyDeleteHow fascinating!! I need to visit more ghost towns... :)
ReplyDeleteI went to Bodie in 1978. It's awesome to know it's still there.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo - I totally get the staring part. The wallpaper alone is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I actually got to go there a few years back when I lived in California, and I had my film camera with me. I took some great snaps there. It's like a playground for photographers ;)
ReplyDeleteThe room itself scares me just looking at it. It just seems to blank and empty.
